Message A new jar file will be included in the next release of GEF.

Dale Anson has replaced all the direct calls to LOG4J with calls to the jakarta commons logging project http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/logging/

This project acts as a bridge between GEF and some logging application that can be determined at runtime.

This allows you the user to determine whether you prefer to log using log4j for all logging or to use the logging API supplied with JDK1.4 or yet some other logging tool.

However LOG4J will continue to be distributed with GEF as a reliable logging library for all java2 platforms. It is up to you the user of GEF to configure commons logging should you require some other logger.

Regards

Bob.
