ok

absolutely no problem, take your time. And, besides, since the branch is now
already merged you can also add your javadoc comments wherever you want when
you look through the source. Thanks for this, Jason.

greetings,
Raphael

I think it has to be 0.10. We are not ready for 1.0 yet.

OK, but it may take me a few days to get to it.

Message merger done ... one day earlier than expected, but I was just in the right
mood because I also add log4j and ant into the repository and adopted the
build scripts.

NOW you do not need any ant or log4j on your system any more. They are
provided when checking out GEF. Also please don't forget the -d option when
you check out so that you also get all new directories.

Please verify that everything is ok, especially if building works on a Windows
machine (I couldn't test it). I can only tell for sure that the build.sh
script works fine. If everything is ok, we can tag it and make an anouncement
on the user list because of the bug fixes etc. ... but please verify first.

All those who have submitted bugs/issues. Check them all again and close those
that are fixed with this patch.

greetings,
Raphael

Message Hi Jason!

While you work on the webpage ... what do you think of making the next version
a 0.10 or a 1.0?

Could you also clean up Issuezilla accordingly so that we have a "source"
subcomponent for bugs and a valid target milestone?

THANKS!!
Raphael

Message Hi Bob!

That still leaves the question whether to provide compatibility to 0.9.6 or
not (I wouldn't like to make it compatible because it involves much work that
is only valid for a few months and needs to be removed then...)

No idea about that ;) I can't really say what has improved and what not. I can
only rely on the comments from Markus and Thorston. I think I will really get
to know the source when we start to design the interfaces.

See above.

thank you.

I have read the ones through that were sent on the argo dev list during
December/January. They don't describe all changes, but ... as far as I can
remember there were a couple of things that make it impossible to keep
compatibility (and thus making it compatible for now WOULD be some work).

I also checked back with Markus on the whole gentleware thing so that I don't
do anything wrong. One important remark was that the gentleware branch only
exists in the /gef/src/ directory.

And thanks Bob for all your participation at least on the list. It already
DOES help if more people make considerations no matter how many are then
actually making the changes.

greetings,
Raphael

Message Thank you Jason! It's good to know you are here so there as at least one that
really knows the source.

greetings,
Raphael

PS: if I don't hear any other comments I will commit the branch as is to the
head and thus BREAK COMPATIBILITY. We then have to really go on to design
interfaces and get this through so users don't have to make only one step in
adopting their sourcecode.

I think we should be ok to press ahead.

I'm willing to commit to understanding and debugging and problems that
result from that merge that Raphael cannot take care of.

>Is Jason on board as yet?

Yeah, I am here. I've been kind of distracted with
readyset.tigris.org and readings.tigris.org. I was thinking that I
would start by updating the gef web content. I assume that will not
conflict with any changes Raphael makes.

I also need to add more javadoc comments. I'll take a look at the
gentleware_patches branch so as to avoid conflicts with files that
need to be merged.

Thanks,
jason!

Message I'm just concerned we're not trying to do too much in one go.

Release little and often is the normal way but I understand your not wanting
to break compatability too often.

How confident do you feel about the work you merged in.

I'm just concerened that maybe the knowledge of the gentleware patch isn't
within us and then we've added another layer of change on top of that.

When I say "us" and "we" of course I mean "you" as your the only one yet to
have taken the time and effort to make this happen <applause>, I'm still too
argo oriented at the moment.

There were some previous mails asking why certain methods had gone and what
replaced them. Do these make any sense to you?

Is Jason on board as yet?

Regards

Bob.
