After all you're free to fork this project. You could try to ask for a
RefactorIt license under the title of branch leader or just explain
the situation to them. If your code is better than the current code,
potential developers will surely contribute to your branch. You might
want to avoid breaking too many ArgoUML dependencies. But if you can
improve the code I guess the current GEF maintainers will sync with
your branch. GEF code really has the ability to show
refactoring gains :)
