As I mentioned on the ArgoUML mailing list, I think Batik is probably overkill for this.
 It only took me a couple of hours to throw together a Graphics2D version of SVGwriter
which has the same level of functionality as the current SVGwriter. The real question
is how much additional work will be required as GEF implements more modern functionality
that makes more use of the Graphics2D API.

Independent of what direction the SVG output goes, I think having SVG output constrain
GEF's functionality is the tail wagging the dog. GEF needs to move to Graphics2D to provide
reasonable functionality. This was released in Java 1.2, so it's not exactly a recent
